MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS - SAME LOVE feat. MARY LAMBERT (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Hello Dance Breaks. On February 21 Topher Payne's Angry Fags will open at 7 Stages in Atlanta, GA. This is an amazing show about Cooper and Bennett are not a gay couple- just a couple of gays. When one of their friends is the victim of an assault outside a local bar, they feel helpless, frightened, and then they feel something new: pure, unfiltered rage. Angry Fags asks the question “Is anyone really afraid of gay guys?” This dark comedy explores the ideas of gay terrorism and the hypocrisy of American politics.

Someone shared this song with me and it seemed fitting for the show Angry Fags witch features 4 PM Dance Break artists Melissa Carter in her acting debut.

Enjoy the dance of Same love!

Melissa Carter's Last Day

Morning Dance Breakers! For those of you who may not know. I am a huge fan of a local radio show in Atlanta called The Bert Show and one of their DJ Melissa Carter who wrote and performed one of my favorite dance breaks UnPlugged. Since this is her last day on The Bert show I though I would share her hit single unplugged.

When I say Bring it, You say On!

Greetings Dance Breakers. Today I thought I would cross the line of my normal format to tell you about an amazing production I was fortunate enough to see yesterday. Bring It On: The Musical. Yes I said Bring it On:The Musical. Before you start scoffing about competitive cheerleading coming to the stage. Take a look at the creative team who put together this amazing show.

Tony Award winning Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, GA has certainly brought it with amazing team. Now the Alliance is no stranger to working with big name Broadway talent. The Alliance has launched the World Premieres of AIDA, The Color Purple, Come Fly with Me and many others.

Now to the fun part. You have an amazing creative team, a top notch theatre, so now all that's missing is a cast who can sing, act, dance, and cheer. This show required more then just your normal triple theaters. The team had to find quadruple threats or at least turn dancers in to cheerleaders and vise verse. Take a look.

The show is still in the preview stages so some small changes are still being made. Let me tell you if you are in or around the Atlanta area this is a show to see. If you are a fan of the movie I think you will love this production. It is not based on any of the movies and is it's own story but has some glimpses of familiarity. The choreography and stunt work is great. The mix of hip-hop, pop and rap will have dance breakers on their feet. While we can't show any scenes from the show. We do have a behind-the-scenes video from rehearsals of Bring It On:The Musical.

Honestly, I can not say enough about this production. If you have never been to the Alliance Theatre, if you have never seen a World Premiere Musical, if you've never seen Bring It On, what are you waiting for?

For realsies, put your bitter bitch barbie down and go see Bring it On The Musical at the Alliacne Theatre

Now a word from our sponsor

Thanks to some wonderful friends and fans. I was nominated for FENUXE Magazine's 2011 Best Bachelor of Atlanta. It's extremely flattering and humbling. The top 10 winners are featured in the magazine and auctioned off for charity.  So I am putting this out to the 4 PM Dance Break community.  Please take three seconds to cast your vote for Charles Swint.  It's for a good cause and won't cost you a thing, just a few seconds of your time.  Voting closes January 24.  Vote early and vote often.

Thanks dance breakers and keep dancing.

What's Old is New Again - Cee Lo Green NPR

Cee Lo Green seems to be everywhere these days. His recent hit single "Forget You", that being the clean version of the songs title, was featured on this weeks episode of Glee. Today, NPR aired an interview discussing his newest album The Lady Killer.

Cee Lo first came onto the scene with Atlanta group Goodie Mob and is probably best know for his Gnarls Barkley hit Single "Crazy". His new album The Lady Killer has a classic sound that is more timeless, while still keeping Cee Lo's signature sounds of camp and funk. Hearing some of the cuts off the album I was instantly transported to my youth. Those cold winter days up north listening to Classic R&B and Soul in my dads old Buick.

It makes me wonder, is the younger generation ready for such classic sounds to return to the air waves? Having grown up listen to Marvin Gay, Al Green and Earth Wind and Fire, The Lady Killer album brought back a feeling of nostalgia. However, if you formative years were spent listening to Britney and Green Day would you appreciate this album as much?

Take a listen to this Cee Lo Green interview on NPR's All Things Considered. I would love to hear what you think of the modern retro sounds of The Lady Killer.

Vortex Park -Bee Sting

One of my favorite songs, from one of my favorite local Atlanta bands. These guys are the bee knees, pun totally intended. Their new album, Follow the Elephant will be released soon. You can check out more music from Vortex park on their website.

Jeremy Aggers "Leatherstrap" live at Paste

Jeremy Aggers is a local Atlanta musician. It's great music and I love music that has some soul to it. These are great guys. Hope you enjoy. Remember a song doesn't have to be down and dirty or have a hip hop beat to dance to it. Find your rhythm, find your soul, find your inner dancer.

Richard Devine - Live 2009 New Years Eve

Today the 4 PM Dance break is going to look at all types of music. This first one comes from DJ Richard Devine. He is a amazing DJ and a great guy! Hope you like it.
