Greetings Dance Breakers. Today I thought I would cross the line of my normal format to tell you about an amazing production I was fortunate enough to see yesterday. Bring It On: The Musical. Yes I said Bring it On:The Musical. Before you start scoffing about competitive cheerleading coming to the stage. Take a look at the creative team who put together this amazing show.
Tony Award winning Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, GA has certainly brought it with amazing team. Now the Alliance is no stranger to working with big name Broadway talent. The Alliance has launched the World Premieres of AIDA, The Color Purple, Come Fly with Me and many others.
Now to the fun part. You have an amazing creative team, a top notch theatre, so now all that's missing is a cast who can sing, act, dance, and cheer. This show required more then just your normal triple theaters. The team had to find quadruple threats or at least turn dancers in to cheerleaders and vise verse. Take a look.
The show is still in the preview stages so some small changes are still being made. Let me tell you if you are in or around the Atlanta area this is a show to see. If you are a fan of the movie I think you will love this production. It is not based on any of the movies and is it's own story but has some glimpses of familiarity. The choreography and stunt work is great. The mix of hip-hop, pop and rap will have dance breakers on their feet. While we can't show any scenes from the show. Honestly, I can not say enough about this production. If you have never been to the Alliance Theatre, if you have never seen a World Premiere Musical, if you've never seen Bring It On, what are you waiting for?
