Cee Lo Green seems to be everywhere these days. His recent hit single "Forget You", that being the clean version of the songs title, was featured on this weeks episode of Glee. Today, NPR aired an interview discussing his newest album The Lady Killer.
Cee Lo first came onto the scene with Atlanta group Goodie Mob and is probably best know for his Gnarls Barkley hit Single "Crazy". His new album The Lady Killer has a classic sound that is more timeless, while still keeping Cee Lo's signature sounds of camp and funk. Hearing some of the cuts off the album I was instantly transported to my youth. Those cold winter days up north listening to Classic R&B and Soul in my dads old Buick.
It makes me wonder, is the younger generation ready for such classic sounds to return to the air waves? Having grown up listen to Marvin Gay, Al Green and Earth Wind and Fire, The Lady Killer album brought back a feeling of nostalgia. However, if you formative years were spent listening to Britney and Green Day would you appreciate this album as much?
Take a listen to this Cee Lo Green interview on NPR's All Things Considered. I would love to hear what you think of the modern retro sounds of The Lady Killer.
